Interestingly, most of appointed women officers will be maximum 25 years old, Indian Defence ministry said.
Reason Behind Recruitment:
Indian hasn’t given any solid reason behind this recruitment. Indian Defence Ministry claimed that this recruitment will proof that Women are not behind men in any field. The other reason can be shortage of men staff on Border as big number of men soldiers are on duty in Kashmir.
These new women officers will be appointed on Assistant Commandants post. Later they can be promoted to Commandants and deputy Commandants posts.
It’s worth mentioning here that Indian Security force started recruitment of women in 2009 but now they have started recruiting women as officers for the first time.

Amir not allowed to play domestic cricket: ICC

Karachi, July 14: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has dismissed media reports in Pakistan that banned left arm pacer, Mohammad Amir had been allowed to resume playing domestic cricket by them.
Reports were circulating in the Pakistan media since yesterday that the ICC four-member committee formed to look into his ban and case had allowed him to play domestic cricket.
But a ICC spokesman said first of all no permission had been given to Amir to play domestic cricket or any cricket of any sort and secondly that any decision relating to his case could only be taken by the ICC Executive Board.
"Any decision to give any sort of relaxation to Amir will only be made by the ICC Board. The four-man committee comprising Giles Clarke, Wally Edwards, Imran Khawaja and Keith Oliver will present its recommendations to the ICC Board, which will review these before making any decision. Until such time, Amir will remain suspended from all cricket activities," the spokesman said.
According to media reports, ICC four-member committee headed by Clarke had recommended that Amir be allowed to play domestic cricket after PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi pleaded Amir's case at the last ICC meetings in London.
But the spokesman said any reports about the ICC even allowing Amir to use PCB facilities is incorrect.
The next ICC Board meeting is scheduled in October but it is not necessary any decision on Amir will be made at the meeting.
Sources in the PCB say that Sethi had pleaded with the ICC Board members to take Amir's age, his confession to spot fixing and that he had already served two and half years of his five year ban and also spent time in jail, into consideration while reviewing his case.
"The PCB's main thrust is that Amir be allowed to start using PCB facilities so that he can start training under proper supervision and also be put on a one year watch and rehabilitation program before his ban ends in 2015," one source said.
Amir alongwith Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif was banned for a minimum of five years by an anti-corruption panel of the ICC in early 2011 for spot fixing in the fourth test against England at Lords in 2010.

Amir allowed to play domestic cricket

LAHORE - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allowed Muhammad Amir to play domestic cricket with some conditions lifting the ban imposed on the tainted bowlers for spot-fixing.

It has been learnt that the ICC has officially informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about permitting Amir to play domestic cricket.

Amir has been allowed to play domestic cricket for one year and after that, the ICC will assess his performance and attitude to decide his future.

The Pakistan bowler had been considered a great addition in the team it was expected that he would shine more with passage of time but suddenly everything changed with spot-fixing swindle.

A British court awarded jail to three top Pakistani cricketers including Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir in spot-fixing case.

Later on, the court showed generosity to Amir and sent him to rehabilitation jail for being youngster and new in the cricket.

Asif and Salman Butt completed their jail term and filed petitions against their bans from the ICC but failed to get any relaxation.

Being young and immature at time of scam, Muhammad Amir had been punished less and all veteran cricketers and PCB showed sympathy for him and his career.

Now luck has smiled towards him again briefly and he has got permission to play cricket domestically by the ICC.

It is expected that after completion of this one year, Muhammad Amir will be allowed to play international cricket again.

Earlier last month, a five-member ICC sub-committee, which was set up after the 2013 annual conference to review the anti-corruption code, was formed to look into relaxing certain conditions of the five-year ban imposed on Amir after the spot-fixing scandal of 2010.

However, The PCB has already allowed Amir to use its facilities for training and now on the reque4st of the PCB the ICC five-member committee has recommended lifting of the ban from Amir allowing him play the domestic cricket.

PHF to decide fate of team management next week

LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will hold an important meeting on July 15 to decide whether to go with the same team management for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Pakistan still stand a chance in the shape of winning the upcoming Asia Cup to qualify for the 2014 showpiece event of hockey.
The team lost the first chance to qualify for the mega event after finishing poor seventh in the World Hockey League.
Top three teams had to qualify for 2014 World Cup through the World Hockey League which was utilised by Argentina, Germany and England booking berths in the 2014 World Cup.
No Asian team could qualify for the mega event.
It needs to be mentioned that winner of the Asia Cup will also get a place in the mega event but Pakistan position seems more flimsy in presence of Korea, Malaysia and even China vying for the same spot.
Now the PHF may hire two other coaches — Manzoor-ul-Hasan Senior and Tahir Zaman — to take over the charge from Akhtar Rasool.
However, it will be a tough challenge for both of them to make recovery in such a short period as the Asia Cup will be held in September this year in Malaysia.—Sports Reporter

Pakistan victorious in close fought tour opener

Pakistan came out of their first tour match in the Caribbean victorious against the Guyana side, in a closely fought contest at Bourda.

Pakistan’s batting woes continued to worry them as late contributions pushed them to 246 before Mohammad Irfan and Saeed Ajmal halted the Guyanese chase 7 runs short.
After being sent into bat by the hosts in overcast conditions, Pakistan eased to 12 for no loss in three overs before rain interrupted play briefly. After resumption of play, the opening pair of Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad put on 62 at a scoring rate of just under 4 an over before Jamshed was bowled by the left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul. The same bowler claimed Mohammad Hafeez’s scalp six overs later to leave Pakistan at 86-2. With captain Misbah-ul-Haq at the other end, Shehzad reached his half century in 58 balls before eventually getting stumped on 68 off the bowling of Devendra Bishoo.
The Pakistan skipper was first of three quick wickets to fall to spin, followed by the young pair of Umar Akmal, who is making a comeback in this series, and Asad Shafiq to leave Pakistan at 160-6. However, Shahid Afridi making yet another comeback to the national side, rescued Pakistan along with Wahab Riaz. Afridi hit 31 runs in his trademark aggressive fashion scoring sixes off Steven Jacobs and Keon Joseph but was soon caught while trying to clear the long-off boundary.
Umar Amin, however, provided some late momentum with a couple boundaries to carry his side to 246-9, scoring an unbeaten 17 in the process. The pick of the local bowlers was Permaul who finished the innings with overall figures of 10-3-27-3.
Guyana’s chase started poorly with the 7-foot tall pacer Mohammad Irfan claiming the wickets of both openers Trevon Griffith and Anthony Bramble within the first five overs. Windies veteran Ramnaresh Sarwan put on 54 runs for the third wicket partnership with Leon Johnson. Sarwan lost his wicket to left arm spinner Abdur Rehman, edging the delivery through to keeper Umar Akmal who is filling the spot vacated by elder brother Kamran.
Leon Johnson led the recovery by the hosts hitting Afridi for two fours in one over and then pulling Abdur Rehman for six over mid-wicket to take Guyana to 138. At this point, Pakistan spin wizard Saeed Ajmal put the brakes on the innings, dismissing Johnson and then Fudadin. Left arm batsman Narsingh Deonarine put up resistance to the Pakistan bowling attack hitting five fours and two sixes before being bowled by Ajmal on 55, leaving the hosts with 77 to get from the final 10 overs. The Guyanese batting tail showed resilience, adding 41 for the 9th wicket but Ajmal claimed his 5th wicket, trapping Steven Jacobs in front of his wicket before rookie pacer Asad Ali dismissed Bishoo for his first wicket of the day, handing Pakistan a 7 run win.
Pakistan play the West Indies in the first of five ODI’s on Sunday in Providence (18:00 PST), followed by two T20 internationals.

‘No load shedding during Sehar, Iftar and Taraveeh’

KARACHI :  Karachi Electric Supply Company has decided not to carry out load shedding during Sehar, Iftar and Taraveeh timings during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, after assurances by Gas Company to provide adequate gas and from the government to pay part of outstanding dues.
During the Holy month of Ramadan, there will be no load shedding in residential and commercial areas from 06:00 PM to 11:00 PM to facilitate the citizens during Iftar and Taraveeh, and then from 02:00 AM to 07:00 AM during Sehar.
The decision has been taken in view of the supply of 220 MMCFD of natural gas from SSGC to KESC’s power generating plants and a commitment from the gas company that it would continue to provide the same volume of gas during Ramzan on regular basis. The current peak demand of electricity in the City has touched highest mark of 2750 megawatts and 220 MMCFD at required pressure is the minimum volume of gas that KESC would need to maintain the present load shedding schedule.
Government entities have also assured the power utility about payment of outstanding dues. It may be recalled here that KESC had recently appealed to Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to pay at least Rs. 10 billion of the total outstanding amount of Rs. 77 billion so as to enable the power entity to exempt residential and commercial consumers during Sehar, Iftar and
Taraveeh timing.

Haters Gonna Hate Said : Ayesha Omar

Ayesha Omar says , “I am extremely thrilled to have won,” she tells us via Facebook, as she is currently not in Pakistan. “I worked extremely hard on this album and I guess all the hard work paid off.”

While she is travelling and has not come across the Twitter posts and articles lambasting the LSA platform for awarding her the trophy, she does add, “Haters will always hate and obviously jealousy will always exist! People who lose will always be sore.”Ayesha also said, “The critics don’t always understand the way the minds of the masses work. Anything can appeal to them. Even something that is not technically great. Another huge music project is coming out right after Eid… you will see me performing in that as well. So the critics should wait and check that out.”

“I never expected to win,” she admits. “I don’t even come close to their experience and skill but this was a voting category and I guess music listeners and fans out there did like something about my album. The criticisers have a right to state their views.”

According to the official results  Ayesha bagged 18,377 votes, while the lowest number was earned by Dynoman for Naubahar. It is clear that she bagged the most votes owing to her popularity from Bulbulay. It is possible that people who voted for her even didn’t even know that she could sing. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you leave an important award that does not have as much mass appeal for the public to decide. Music categories should only be awarded according to their genres, like they were with the Indus Music and The Music Aawards.

Drone Strikes Was Done With Pakistan’s Permission: Shuja Pasha

Former DG Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Ahmed Shuja Pasha has said that drone strikes in Pakistan were done after getting permission from Pakistan. Shuja Pasha also admitted that drone strikes were somehow useful but it voiltes Pakistan’s sovereignty.
According to media reports in the recently leaked Abbottabad Commission report it was stated that Shuja Pasha said that there was no written agreement between US and Pakistan regarding drone strikes. However there was a political understanding between Pakistan and United States on drone issue.
“They were legal according to American law but illegal according to international law,” the report quoted the ISI chief as saying.
On many occasions Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that drone attacks were carried out with the permission of the Pakistan government. Imran has said that the government conducts drone attacks through the US and then condemns the same.
This recent statement of Former DG ISI Ahmed Shuja Pasha tells that Pakistan’s previous governments have lied to people of Pakistan when they say that government have not given permission to US for drone strikes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan is going to UK on a personal visit where he will also have a medical checkup. Imran Khan will also not attend a meeting which is called by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to formulate a national security policy.
Dr Shireen Mazari, the spokesperson for the party said about Imran Khan visit: “The PTI chairman has an appointment for medical check-up which can’t be deferred,” Imran suffered back injury when he fell from lift during election campaign. There are reports that his recovery is slow therefore he will meet doctor in UK to take advice. Imran Khan will spend time with his sons and will stay in UK for 14 days.
A political analyst criticized Imran Khan on his UK personal visit and said that it is true that Imran Khan is going to UK on his personal expense and will meet doctor there on his own but a leader who claims that he cares for poor people should not go to aboard from treatment. It is not good for his followers as his followers will think that medical treatment in Pakistan is not good and for good medical treatment one has to travel abroad.
However many PTI supporters said that there is nothing wrong in going abroad for medical appointment until it is on personal expense.

Magazine to put together a series of six shoots called the Porsche Style Diaries. Starting from July 2013 this series will be featured in six different issues of Hello! Pakistan. The concept behind the shoot was to work with six top professionally trained and qualified stylists in the country styling six different personalities who were selected on the basis of the heights they have reached in their respective fields. The criteria for this selection was based on talent, achievements, the precision in the quality of their work and lastly and most importantly-their style.
Porsche Pakistan has showcased six different 911 models from six different years to recognize and associate their brand name with six different personalities that Porsche feels have excelled in their respective fields, Farhad Humayun being one of them. They have placed the Porsche mark of excellence and intelligent performance on these people and their achievements via this series of shoots.
Farhad comments regarding his experience working with Porsche: “It’s always tricky working with brands because you have to be on the same wavelength in terms of taste and sensibility. With Porsche I had no such concerns. I knew it would be cool and I would appear as myself, not as an actor or model. It’s great when a brand like that respects your contribution to good energy in the world.
According to Ansa, Porsche Pakistan’s reason for specifically choosing Farhad for the Hello! He started off as a session player and in college he was undoubtedly the best drummer ever heard in Pakistan. As time went on, he did more with his music and his career, taking it to places where the youth followed. He was unique, his talent was incredible and he had style.
In regards to having Farhad Humayun as part of this shoot, Ansa (Marketing Manager, Porsche Pakistan) further states: “Farhad has just gotten better with time, and for Porsche it’s important to identify with someone who fits right in with our slogan – “Porsche Intelligent Performance.” As a brand, we identify more with superior performance.”

Cigarette & Shisha Smoking Trend in Pakistani Youth

Days have gone, when smoking cigarette in Pakistan is a man’s hobby, it’s now girls who joins the race of inhaling toxins through Shisha Smoking, Also known as narghile, shisha and goza, a hookah is a water pipe with a smoke chamber, a bowl, a pipe and a hose.
Trend of `shisha’ smoking has Increased in mass Pakistani Rural Youth. A survey of 450 students of aged between 16-30 found that 64.% of males and 37.9 % of females had smoked a `shisha’ at least once in their lifetime; 77.3 percent of males and 33.3 percent of females smoked a `shisha’ regularly.
Tobacco is responsible for 100,000 deaths annually in Pakistan. The number of female smokers in their teens and twenties has increased rapidly. This itself is been alarming that youngsters & especially females of well off background has been adapting it as a fashion, on the other hand, unawareness of parents is also playing a vital role in enhancing “Shisha smoking”. Since having “Shisha” becomes fashionable… it is very hard to change the trend. Peer pressure and the need of the young to do something new all play a part of deliberately accepting “Shisha Smoking”.
It’s has been falsely assume that, tobacco is no less toxic in a hookah pipe, and the water in the hookah does not filter out the toxic ingredients in the tobacco smoke, Hookah smoke contains high levels of toxic compounds including tar, carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens, same as cigarettes, In fact, hookah smokers are exposed to more carbon monoxide and smoke than are cigarette smokers.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Pakistan’s population of 200 million includes 22-25 million tobacco smokers; 40 percent of adult males and 11 percent of adult females smoke. About 70,000 people die annually from tobacco-related diseases in the country.
Since “Shisha Smoking” is been penetrating rapidly in Pakistani Social Circles & been termed as Safe Tobacco, it is interesting to mention that there is no safe level of exposure to tobacco. Any exposure to tobacco smoke weather in Shisha – even an occasional cigarette or exposure to second-hand smoke – is harmful and that damage from tobacco smoke is immediate.
It is now necessary to adopt Appropriate and efficient measures to prohibit “Shisha smoking” and it been the responsibility of Parents & government to take appropriate measures against “Shisha Smoking” as this will not only prevent deaths but also curtail heavy expenditure incurred on diseases caused due to consumption of tobacco and its bi-products.

Misbah critical of Pakistan batting failure (Cricinfo.com)

Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan Test and ODI captain, has demanded that his underperforming batsmen step up and take responsibility after his team crashed out of the Champions Trophy in England following three successive defeats.
"I think our batsmen must understand their game, the conditions which they are facing and then apply themselves," Misbah said on his return from England. "It's the responsibility of the batsmen. It's not that we were short on practice. We did prepare well for the tour but conditions in England were tough and our batsmen couldn't handle them. I suppose that's been the one area where we've lacked - scoring consistent runs. We had these same batting problems on the South Africa tour so we now have to try to sort them."
Pakistan were sorely let down by their batsmen in the Champions Trophy. They failed to cross 200 - bowled out for 170 against West Indies, 167 against South Africa and 165 in a rain-affected match against India to get eliminated from the group stage. Only Misbah, the fifth-leading run-getter in ODIs this year with 548 runs, hit two half-centuries. The other senior batsmen Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal performed poorly. Pakistan's batting was also found wanting on their tour of South Africa earlier this year, where they lost all three Tests and the one-day series 3-2.
Misbah insisted batting is a serious weakness Pakistan have to overcome as they look to build for the 2015 World Cup. "The simple thing is that batsmen aren't able to handle themselves. There are technical faults and we need to address them. Whenever we go abroad we will face such problems so we have to address them sooner or later. If we don't improve, don't learn, then such things will go on.
"We will have meetings in the next two-three days to finalise the team (for the West Indies tour). Changes are necessary and we have to sit down and discuss, make changes and plan who are the players to be groomed for the future. We can rebuild the team in the next two years by grooming players who are good enough.
"It's not like we are picking the wrong players. We always try to select players who are good for the team, players who can win us games. These are the same set of players who have won us games. But now that they have not performed, you are saying they were sifarshi [unmerited recommendation] players. This is not the issue, they have done well in the past as well."
Pakistan play five ODIs against West Indies starting July 14, the first two in Guyana and the remaining three in St Lucia. The ODIs will be followed by two Twenty20 internationals in St Vincent. Misbah was wary about the challenge in West Indies and believed the onus would be on his batsmen again.
"We will face slow pitches on the West Indies tour and need to graft our innings," Misbah said. "If the batsmen give the bowlers a total of more than 250 then they can win us matches. I think it will again be a test of our batting in the West Indies."

Amir could be allowed PCB training facilities (Cricinfo.com)

Mohammad Amir after the spot-fixing scandal of 2010. While the most stringent stipulations of the ban will still remain, the PCB has requested the ICC to consider a few concessions, especially with regard to Amir using the board's facilities for training.
A five-member ICC sub-committee, which was set up after the 2013 annual conference to review the anti-corruption code, will also look into relaxing certain conditions of the five-year ban imposed on Pakistan fast bowler
A PCB spokesman told ESPNcricinfo: "The ICC, during the annual conference week, constituted a five-member committee that will review and recommend amendments to the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, and on recommendation from the PCB, will also provide its suggestions to the ICC board on the ban related to Mohammad Amir." The ICC was unwilling to the reveal who would comprise the sub-committee.
Regardless of the recommendation from the committee, Amir will not be able to play any kind of club, domestic, or international cricket and will not train with the national team. The only significant allowance that could be made is that he regain access to the training facilities offered by the PCB.
ESPNcricinfo understands that the PCB made the request to the ICC only because Amir had complied with conditions of the ban: not committing any further breach of the anti-corruption code and undergoing the ICC's educational and rehabilitation programme. Amir will be available for national selection from September 3, 2015, and the PCB sought the relaxation of some terms so that he could be ready to play as soon as his ban ends, rather than spend more months in training.
Amir had not been aware of the PCB's request but seemed content with anything that would help him return to cricket. He hasn't been doing full-fledged training but has kept himself in good shape. By the time he completes his ban he will be 23. "I will come hard despite the five-year in-activeness," Amir had told ESPNcricinfo last year. "I want to come back with my head held high, with a new spirit and as a role model."
Salman Butt, the Pakistan captain who was banned for ten years by the ICC on charges of spot-fixing during the Lord's Test in 2010, had made a similar request in a personal capacity two days before the ICC's annual conference. His case, however, was not accepted as it was believed that Butt had not fully complied with the ICC's conditions.
Butt had recently taken the first step in his rehabilitation by publicly admitting to and apologising for his part in the spot-fixing scandal. He also indicated his willingness to participate in the PCB and ICC's rehabilitation programmes. Five out of Butt's ten-year ban from any cricketing activities were to be a suspended sentence on condition that he would commit no further breach of the anti-corruption code and participate in a PCB-controlled anti-corruption education programme.
Of the three players banned by the ICC before the criminal trial began in London - fast bowler Mohammad Asif being the third - only Amir had pleaded guilty to the charges at the Southwark Crown Court. Both Butt and Asif had pleaded not guilty and appealed their bans at the Court of Arbitration in Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland.
